Wine - Olive oil - Honey

What inspired us?

The Italian history and craftsmanship in the area for wine making, being in the middle between Brunello, Nobile de Montepulciano, Syrah de Cortona and Sagrantino Montefalco. Being in the DOC of Colli de Trasimeno del Trasimeno, and being able to work on land that had a rich history in red wine, white wine and Vin Santo with the fame of the best wine of Tuoro sul Trasimeno.

We are combining this rich history of wine making with new insights in optimal utilisation of anthycyanins, tannins and polyphenols of the red and white varieties for excellent taste, longevity and low sulfite use. The selection of specific grapes with extremely high polyphenolic content like Sagrantino, Petit Verdot, Tannat, Colorino, Cannaiolo Nero blended in with traditionals as Sangiovese, Grenache, Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon to reach this high balance in taste. For whites, Umbrian varities as Trebbiano Spoletino and Grechetto di Todi, uniquley high in polyphenols, are used in combination with classic Trebbiano and Greco di Tufa.

The Umbrian terroir has created a unique playfied for the winemaker to express his creativity for unique tastes with a wide variety of healthy substances.

The extreme climate conditions of Umbria, being close to the Apenines, with cold winters and warm summers, strong winds with abundant rain in springs and autumns unlocks in the plants a defensive system that induces a high production of polyphenolic compounds in the olive leaves and fruits. In the typical Umbrian varieties of Morailo and Dolce Agogia, we see the highest amount of anti-oxidants in the olive leaves with high concentration of Oleuropein (cancer treatment), Luteolin (anti cancer cell profileration) and Hydroxytyrosol (cardio vascular benefits). This is the perfect basis for olive leaves for tea making for whihc the leaves are harvested in the best season for the abundance of these healthy components in the leaves. Also as a result the olive oil of Umbria is very rich in the polyphenols.

The history of the land, in the shadow of Castle Montegualandro, in the localitat of Fonte San’t Angelo brings piece of mind and Italian tradition. The heritage of being close to Siena, Cortona and Asisisi, together with the beauty of the landscape near lago Trasimeno with its beautiful three islands and overlooking Monte Amiata in the far distance. The playgound of Hannibal in the second Punic war, where he defeated the Roman army, utilizing the hills and the lake to his strategic advantage for blistering victory whilst being outnumbered by the Romans. Our vineyards and olive orchards are part of this fascinating scenery and the replay of the Battle of Trasimeno (217 b.C) can be visited.

The rural Umbrian landscape is the ultimate terroir where plants naturally evolved to be rich in polyphenic compounds.
From the well known tannic rich Sagarantino, Grenache and Sangiovese grapes, over olive leaves and oils extremely rich in antioxidants varietals Moraiolo and Dolce Agogia, to even specific white grape varieties that have have the highest known polyphenolic content like in the Trebbiano Spoletino variety.

Starting from harvesting these fruits allows us to make products that are both rich in taste and in healthy components for enjoyable whilst healthy moments.
